What To Expect At A Cinema Brewery

A first look at the new Flix Brewhouse dine-in movie theater, which opens Feb. 12 on San Antonio’s far west side. The Round Rock-based theater chain features an in-house microbrewery. The cinema will feature 30 craft beers with a dozen brewed in house.

Seeing a movie on a date with your significant other, spouse, or friends is a favorite pastime.

Eating popcorn, candy, and a delicious beverage at a movie can enhance the viewing experience tremendously. The two go together hand in hand. Some theaters have even begun serving food, brewing their beer, and providing service throughout the movie-watching experience. The result is a wonderful experience where anything you want or need is right at your fingertips. Here is a guide for what you can expect at a cinema brewery.

  1. Expect great food

Imagine being able to enjoy delicious food while watching a movie. At the theater, you can enjoy hamburgers, loaded fries, fried pickles, or even pizza. If you want something a little more unique there are also tacos, quesadillas, a variety of salads and sandwiches, as well as appetizers to sample and share. Being able to eat during the movie makes the service perfect for a first date or simply relaxing with friends.

  1. Expect wonderful craft beer

With delicious beers brewed in-house, these theaters are where you want to see your next movie if you are a beer aficionado. Different flavors and beer styles are created. There are hoppy beers, light and refreshing lagers and ales, IPAs, stouts, and wheat beers to choose from. A local brew theater will have a wide range of beers to choose from so everyone you invite out will find something they love.

  1. Attentive service

Before your movie, you will be attended to with prompt and quick service. Employees will have dark clothing to minimize distractions and will be available to assist you with ordering and any other needs that arise during the film. Any questions or concerns you may have will be handled easily- simply enjoy yourself!

  1. A great movie-going experience

Each of these theaters is likely showing all the newest releases that are currently available. To learn more about the movies, you can pick up the phone and call or simply visit the website to get a listing of currently playing films and their corresponding dates and times. You can even order your tickets online and simply show up when the movie begins. Managers and attendants frequently monitor the theaters so any rude or rowdy customers will be warned and you can enjoy your films in peace.

  1. Expect dessert

The cherry on top is that dessert is also available. Split a shake, cake, or cookie and finish the movie by satisfying your sweet tooth.

Now that you know what to expect from a theater that serves local craft beer and food, go out and experience it for yourself.

Three Craft Beers Even Non-Beer Drinkers Will Love

Beer goes with pretty much any occasion or event. While wine pairings used to be all the rage, now even the classiest restaurants offer up fine craft brews with pairing suggestions and options. Drinking the brew of your choice is no longer limited to a case on the back porch but is an activity you can enjoy out on the town at bars, restaurants, and even movie theaters. However, enjoying a quality brewed beverage is an acquired taste, and not everyone instantly loves the taste. For this reason, many new breweries are trying out new styles of beer that may tickle the fancy of even the stubbornest palettes. Here are three craft beers for non-beer drinkers to try.

Some basic tips to help you select the best beer for you:

Beer Coloration

If you know nothing and are looking for an easy-to-drink brew, selecting a lighter-colored variety can usually do the trick. The lighter the color the less intense the flavor is- usually. This is a fairly easy and simple rule of thumb to use if you are averse to stronger flavors and thicker textures.

Styles

Similar to learning about coloration, selecting styles that are generally easier to accept on a beginner’s palette is a useful skill to know. Hefeweizen, a German-style, offers a clean citrus-forward flavor with a smooth creaminess that is refreshing and usually perfect for hot days. Other German or Belgian-style brews are similar and will offer an easier experience for newcomers.

Bitterness

It seems that the more experienced drinkers enjoy exploring flavor profiles that are strong in hops and malty-ness. These tend to include amber or brown ales, India pale ales, and the strongest in bitterness and hoppiness being double IPAs.

What Should You Try As A Non-Beer Drinker?

Hefeweizens – As previously mentioned, the refreshing flavor that accompanies most Hefeweizen beers makes them very appealing for the non-beer drinker. This style can be found almost everywhere in local breweries and national craft brew companies with some brands even purchased by the big three national beer distributors. Due to their popularity and easy drinkability, when these beers were created by artisan crafters they were immediately purchased for mainstream marketing and distribution.

Sour beers – Sour beers have begun to gain in popularity due to their unique flavors and ability to convert the non-brew drinker over. Sours are brewed to have intentionally tart and sour flavors with elevated acidity. They come in a variety of sub-styles and unique combinations of flavors so simply trying one will not do this creation justice.

Stouts or porters – These are the thickest, usually sweetest, and highest alcohol content of the three. Perfect as a dessert drink or during a cold season in front of the fire, these tend to have flavors of chocolate, coffee, and a smooth creamy malty-ness that many enjoy.

Use this guide and these three recommendations the next time you are trying to convert a non-beer drinker over to the light.

Best Beermaking Kit – Coopers Brewery Micro Brewery Kit

I have spent many happy years on the trail of the perfect beer. There might not be any such thing, but I am willing to keep on trying. Experience has helped me to accept that the best beer is the one you have in front of you now.

Many years ago, when I first tried brewing my own, I admit to some less-than-desirable results. Some homebrew even went down the drain, I am ashamed to confess. There is certainly no excuse for such behavior nowadays. This homebrew can be as good as it gets.

It is easy to understand why this is the world’s best-selling home beer-making kit and it is easily my favorite of those I have tried. It is a quality product from a great company in Orlando, which makes it easy to brew your beer at home. Even the most inexperienced brewer can get it right the first time and every time.

You can be confident buying this for yourself or as a gift for your husband or boyfriend. It could be a good idea for first-year college students too, they will simply love it.

The whole kit comes in one box and it contains all you need, from bottles and caps to the basic ingredients. Just add water, for a refreshing taste of Australia.

In case you are a complete beginner, This fantastic kit will guide you into making excellent beer with minimal effort. The instruction manual and the DVD are very good and easy to follow. I like the fact that you can read the instructions and get brewing right away. But do have the instructions handy so that you can keep checking up on the stages.

The DVD is great and very useful too. One important additional tip is to give the product an extra few weeks after bottling. Even if you are desperate to taste your brew, it is worth waiting that little bit longer.

This particular kit will make approximately 6 gallons of beer and the whole process takes about 3 weeks as a minimum. The essential thing to keep in mind here at the beginning of the process is the complete sterilization of the fermenter, jug, and spoon. Once that is done you can combine the malt, water, and yeast.

If your tap water is not good, you could try boiling it first, then cool it before adding it to the mix. I sometimes buy bottled water at the supermarket, as my water is not good. Now sit back and await results. I usually mark up a calendar in the kitchen so that I know when the next stage is due. Then just leave it alone; you cannot hurry the process, so do be patient.

A friend of ours commented that even though his flat is very small, he has plenty of room to use this Micro Brewery kit. By the way, once you have mastered the brewer’s art with your first few brews, there are many variations you can experiment with, because refill kits are easily available. Making beer is a great hobby and then you can drink the product. What a wonderful world!

When I first started to brew my own, all those years ago, it was difficult if not impossible to make something to compare with the beer available in the pub. That is just not true nowadays, so thank goodness for progress!
